Last week AdAge posted an article citing survey results from Anderson Analytics (see Tom H.C. Anderson’s blog) breaking down the subtle differences of social network users.  I should note users from the top 4 networks (FB, MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter) were surveyed.

Here’s a bit of what they discovered:

LinkedIn Users

  • More business and health-minded
  • Have the most gadget-oriented users of the social networks
  • Males (57%); Females (43%)

MySpace Users

  • Group most likely to seek parenting info
  • More Black and Hispanic users
  • Most interested in sharing photos and interests

Twitter Users

  • Interested in the widest range of subject matter but favors Pop Culture in particular
  • Average user is following 32 tweeps and has 28 followers
  • Not as loyal to the site (43% said they could live w/o tweeting)

Facebook Users

  • Cover the widest age-range of users
  • Tend to be late adopters
  • Average user is White and has about 120 friends/connections

Like the breakdown. This is definitely an interesting area of communications/marketing/outreach.
