Social media news

You can find news articles referencing social media nearly everywhere you look at the moment, but I have to give props to one particular piece I read this evening.  Ameerah Cetawayo, wrote  a business-related piece for Schenectady, NY’s Daily Gazette.

The reporter spoke to area business people who were using various forms of social networking to generate leads and connect with consumers in order to boost repeat business.   A spokesperson from JCPenney.com also addresses their social media philosophy.  I highly recommend to take the time to read through it.

Some of the businesses came to the same conclusion which I’ve written about in earlier posts – not all networks are built for similar results.  But there are two specific thoughts which caught my attention:

1) Businesses who flood their following with too much information.  (Yes, this can really happen!)

2) The amount of time one can spend to maintain your business’ social presence.  (This continues to be highly debated.)
