Leslie’s recent article on consumer trust includes practical application for small businesses who are tweeting or considering it.  These go hand-in-hand with what I have tried to drive home previously – be conversational.

7 points to Twitter success

  1. Show your personality.  People are more apt to trust you.
  2. Only tweeting specials or offers is a turnoff.  (and boring)
  3. Be helpful and share knowledge/info.
  4. Include relevant links.  (Goes w/ #3)  Decorating advice would be a good example in this particular field.
  5. Treat Twitter as a virtual door to content on your site and in your store.
  6. Consider who should tweet representing your biz, just as you would any customer-facing activity.
  7. Show an effort to follow tweeps who matter to your company and converse with them!

And she goes on to explain how to calculate cost considerations and measurement in your strategy.  This is the BEST article to tie real examples and application as anything I’ve found to date.  If you have a friend with a small business, do them a favor and send them the full article!
